When the winter turns to spring,
A season's favorite it does bring.
Some are baked and some are stewed —
but that's not how I like my food.
From where then does my joy derive?
Lobster Rolls — $5.95
Steam a lobster in a pot,
then pull out all the meat he's got.
Put it in a toasted bun
Pour on some melted butter — done!
This is the taste for which I strive,
Lobster Rolls — $5.95
Signs start at the lobster shack,
then spread along the coast and back
Anywhere there's food to eat
Put their signs out on the street
Read billboards on I-95:
Lobster Rolls — $5.95
When the maker calls me back,
bury me by Red's Lobster Shack.
So my ghostly self won't starve,
and on my tombstone these words carve:
"He was a good man while alive —
Lobster Rolls — $5.95"

Notes:
Obviously influenced by the lobster-centric parts of Maine. This is from a collection of stories titled "Vacationland Book of Verses" that has been dutifully rejected by most of the Maine-specific publishing houses ;) In this case, I wrote the last verse first. Happy with that, it took some time to go back and write the rest.
